[...] Our little hack draw-fest yesterday turned out to be quite successful. Lots of people in #tango and the outcome was quite nice. We put our efforts up on the Tango Fridays-page. We have now started the process to send the finished application icons upstream, so there is a good chance that the issues people pointed out earlier this week are soon fixed. Yesterday was also quite a good opportunity for new contributors jump aboard, as Caleb Sawtell and Cornel Craciun can tell you, so I hope to see more new faces when we do this next time. Finally, hats off to Josef Vybíral, Hylke Bons and others who made sure to kick ass all day! Before and after. [...]

I'll do my best to be there tomorrow. I still have my finished package of icons for every gnome-game in every size, most of which weren't included in gnome-games-2.16 for some reason. I'll e-mail you the latest and greatest.

To Jason Clinton: The old gnome-games icons are VERY old-looking, taking their colors and styling from the original gnome 2 standard. Also, they are still blurry in the menu. The icons I provided follow the tango icon design and color standards, and there are all possible sharp sizes. If you don't like the direction I have taken some of the icons, we should discuss it so I can change them. As it is, the gnome-games set looks like a mess and a hodge-podge and it needs to be updated.

@Anne O'nyme:

That site seems to be about using the mozilla artwork on webpages etc. But yes, modifying their icons is a no-no. But, can they really force anyone to use their icon?

I, for example, currently use Firefox from Ubuntu. They replaced the official logo with a plain globe logo. I use an unofficial tango like icon I found somewhere for the launcher - which is perfectly legal, as I don't redistribute it.

So, the firefox/thunderbird icons don't have to be *based* on the official logos, more something that can be used for unbranded firefox/iceweasel (which is different from web-browser icon!)

The credit card icon (used in the revelation password manager and probably elsewhere) needs all it's sizes. Right now it shows up in only one size and messes up the UI.

Also another vote for Meld. That app has a really sad icon.

As one of the comaintainers of gnome-games. I cannot guarantee that we will accept the new icons for the three games on your list. They would need to be quite an improvement over the old ones.

Andreas and other artists,
Could I make a request for a tango-style icon for the Nemiver debugger? (http://home.gna.org/nemiver/) We don't have an icon yet, so if anybody would like to design and draw one, we'd be very grateful.

Seahorse already has tango styled icons. (Well after looking at your work, I'm sure you could do better than the ones that are currently there.... ) But what it really needs is icons for encrypted and signed files.

May I also add I don't like evolution icon in small size. Currently it looks like this http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/gnome-icon-theme/22x22/apps/evolution.png?view=markup. Purple border around the clock doesn't look right to me.

Also azureus needs better icons for its toolbar. I understand that some distros (Fedora, Ubuntu) patched azureus to use desktop icon theme but I really like the change to go upstream so it can benefit everyonet. AFAIK the patch pulls in java-gnome as depedency.

That's clear, but people like me won't get them until next fedora/ubuntu/whatever is out. Meanwhile, it'd be nice to have a package with all this apps icons so we can add them to the icon theme we're using.
